stay tuned for future events and check our blog to see what we're up to...

Welcome to our website, our team is called PETabytes and we'll be representing Greece and Our school Anatolia College, at the international iGEM competition in 2024.

Our Mission

Our team has attempted to create a new and more potent enzyme that will accelerate the process of plastic biodegradation. We will utilize the enzyme PETase, which has the ability to bio-deconstruct a specific type of plastic called PET. It's one of the most common plastics, as it is used in food packaging, beverages, textile products, etc. We plan to perform a technique called hybridization in order to combine the PETase with the Cutinase enzyme, which also has the ability to biodegrade PET.
